Man ends life after jumping in front of train in Thane; suicide note, video clip name former colleagues, money lenders

THANE: A man, aged 35, apparently took his own life by jumping in front of a suburban train in the Thane district of Maharashtra, a police official said on Thursday.The incident took place on Wednesday night between Ambernath and Badlapur stations on Central Railway's main line, the official added"The man was identified as Girish Nandlal Chube. A note found from the spot has named some people due to which he had to take this extreme step," PTI quoted Kalyan Railway police station senior inspector Mukesh Dhage as saying.Police sources said the deceased has also made a clip in which he has narrated that he lost his job after two colleagues complained to the firm's owner.He said he had to take Rs 1 lakh from some people as he was out of a job and these lenders were harassing him, these sources said.These persons and two colleagues have been named in the video clip, which has gone viral on social media.No one has been arrested in this case, he added.

(Representational)Thane: A 37-year-old businessman from Mira Road in Thane has been cheated of Rs 33.65 lakh after he was tricked into investing in bitcoins on the false promise of lucrative returns, police said on Monday.Police have registered a case against two persons under section 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code.An official said the complainant came into contact with the accused persons through a WhatsApp group. In February 2022, he received a message from two persons, including the group administrator, asking him to become a bitcoin investor if he wants lucrative returns."The businessman agreed and invested money. He got good returns initially, but later he suffered losses and stopped trading. But the accused contacted him and assured him that he will get guaranteed returns and demanded a 20 per cent commission. Mumbai: A 36-year-old woman from Maharashtra's Thane city was allegedly duped of more than Rs 12 lakh by cyber fraudsters, police said on Friday.Based on a complaint, the Kapurbawdi police have registered a case under section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Information Technology (IT) Act against two persons involved in the crime, an official said.One of the accused befriended the victim on social media in November 2022. (Representational)Thane: A 72-year-old retired railway employee has lost Rs 7.38 lakh to cyber fraudsters who tricked him to share confidential details by claiming that his bank account was blocked for want of KYC update, a Thane district police official said on Wednesday.The complainant received a call on February 4 and the caller told him that his bank account was being blocked as he had not updated mandatory KYC (Know Your Customer) documents."The victim was not well-versed with technology and simply followed the instructions of the caller on sharing financial details like secret ATM passwords and details of savings accounts on his phone.
