KALYAN: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has unearthed electricity theft worth Rs 33 lakh by a developer at his construction site in Ambernath in Maharashtra's Thane district. The MSEDCL found that the construction company — Seren Infrastructure — has been stealing electricity with the help of a remote facility. It was found that the builder stole 80,387 units of electricity worth Rs 33 lakh over 21 months from March 2021 to November 2022. In an official press note, MSEDCL claimed that the developer, earlier, by taking permission from MSEDCL constructed two 12-storey buildings at the site. After constructing two residential complexes, the developer continued to use electricity for the another residential complex from the old electricity connection without permission and constructed six floors out of 12 floors. The MSEDCL official said a raid, led by Ulhasnagar division-2 executive engineer Praveen Chakole, recently inspected the power connections of Serene Infrastructure. It was found that Serene Infrastructure was tampering with the electricity meter using remote control. After a thorough investigation, it was found that Seren Infrastructure had stolen electricity worth Rs 33 in the last 21 months. The official further said a notice has been issued to the concerned builder for the payment of stolen electricity. If this payment is not paid on time, a police complaint will be filed against Serene Infrastructure.

KALYAN: The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) on Saturday demolished a public relations office of Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena in Kalyan (East), declaring it illegal, following which Shiv Sainiks took to the streets to protest against the action, terming it as an action under pressure from the ruling party in the state. The KDMC's encroachment department on Saturday demolished atleast 4 structures in a row including Shiv Sena public relations office situated near Vithalwadi area saying it is constructed on plot reserved for ground. After demolition, Shiv Sainiks gathered near the site in the evening and protested against KDMC as well as ruling govt in the state blaming them for action. The Shiv Sainiks said that if KDMC really bothered about illegal construction than they should also demolish other illegal construction in the city or else they will protest against their actions. Asha Rasal, city vice president of Uddhav-led Shiv Sena said, "The office was 17 years old and KDMC has acted under pressure from ruling party and if KDMC does not act against other illegal constructions in the city than we will hold protests for indefinite period outside KDMC's ward offices". In another development on Saturday, making temporary end to tussle over Dombivli's Shiv Sena shahar shakha row, Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena on Saturday inaugurated a new Shiv Sena shahar sakha in Dombivli after Shinde faction of Shiv Sena recently took possession of the sakha located near the Dombivli station. There was a lot of controversy recently between the two Sena factions regarding the shahar sakha. After Eknath Shinde rebelled against Thackeray's leadership, Shiv Sainiks removed the photo of chief minister Eknath Shinde and his son and Lok Sabha MP from Kalyan Shrikant Shinde from the shakha and did not allow their supporters to enter. After which Shinde's Sena supporters officially bought the shakha from builder in his name and in police presence, recently took over possession of the office. Following which Uddhav's Sena had decided to move court, but now since party did not have any shahar shakha in city, Uddhav-led Sena city president Vivek Khamkar on Saturday inaugurated new shakha in name of Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena near old shakha. Khamkar said, "We have moved court against illegal encroachment on shahar sakha where we worked for 30 years but the decision is yet to be announced, so we have started new Shahar Shakha office so that our party's work does not get affected".
