Videos of the clash were widely circulated on social media.Thane: A clash broke out between two Shiv Sena factions in Maharashtra's Thane late on Monday night.The incident took place in Kisan Nagar where newly-appointed office bearers from Uddhav Thackeray's Sena faction were being felicitated. MP Rajan Vichare was also present at the gathering to congratulate the new office bearers.During the event, some Sena workers from chief minister Eknath Shinde's faction heckled Team Thackeray members. The police had to resort to lathicharge to disperse the crowd.

THANE: A 38-year-old man from Mumbra was cheated of Rs 97,000 by five persons who offered him a loan with zero per cent interest. The police said that in 2019, he had taken a loan from a financial company and had repaid the loan with the prescribed interest. It was recently, he got a call from a woman from the same finance company who identified herself as an executive and told him that considering his old financial record with the company and the credit score, he can avail the loan at zero percent interest. As he was in dire need of money, he fell prey to the sweet-talking accused. He said that he got calls wherein the accused told him different schemes but settled to take Rs 30 lakh loan with no interest. Another accused also a woman told him that he will have to avail a policy from them accordingly he paid the sum for the requisite. Again the accused told them that he can avail the subsidy on loan but for which he will have to pay more money. They sent him a link via email and told him to take the insurance policies and pay a different sum. Both the policies turned out to be genuine as the complainant verified it with the call centre numbers. Falling prey to the scamsters he paid the amount on different pretext to the accused and took three policies from the accused but did not give him any loan and later their mobile numbers were unreachable. He then realised that he had been duped and registered a case with the Mumbra police under various sections of cheating of the Indian penal code and relevant section of information and technology act. The police said that they are probing the case.

THANE: Following a 48-hour search operation, the crime branch unit-3 of Mira-Bhayander Vasai-Virar (MBVV) police nabbed the undertrial accused of murdering a banker during a robbery bid who had escaped from Vasai court premises along with his bike-borne aide on Friday, officials informed on Sunday. In July 2021, Anil Dubey (36), a former private bank manager, was arrested for allegedly killing his former colleague and injuring another while trying to flee with gold ornaments worth nearly Rs 3.4 crore from the locker at the bank's Virar branch. On Friday afternoon, when Dubey was brought from Thane Central jail to Vasai court, he allegedly requested the escorting policemen to allow him to visit the washroom and managed to give them the slip and escape on a motorcycle driven by his aide Chand Badshah Aziz Khan (42), a historysheeter from Nalasopara. "We have arrested Dubey and Khan from Nalasopara after our teams narrowed down on them following technical leads. We also recovered the bike," confirmed Shrikant Pathak, additional police commissioner, MBVV police. Avinash Ambure, deputy police commissioner, crime, MBVV police, said, "Our teams were tipped off that the absconding undertrial could be holed up in Nalasopara following which crime branch unit-3 formed teams and started search operations." Police are likely to have zeroed in on the accused based on technical surveillance, including CCTV footage, of the area. Police in the Vasai-Virar area were on alert and also undertook late-night patrolling since Friday, officials said. While sources said Dubey got in touch with Khan when the latter was lodged at Thane jail a few months back, prison officials said they were unaware if Khan was lodged there and may have interacted with Dubey to hatch the escape plan.
